School Closure - Friday 24th January 2025 - Red Weather Alert (added 23/1/25 by Mrs Prentice)
Milton Primary School will be closed to all pupils tomorrow due to Red Weather Alert issued for tomorrow (24.1.25). All pupils have access to Education City and a reading book in their bags. The Primary 6 Assembly will be rescheduled to Friday 31st January at 9.30am.

All pupils should NOT travel to school tomorrow.

South Lanarkshire Council understands that this may cause some inconvenience to families but you will appreciate that the health and safety of our children, young people and staff is our priority.

It was lovely to welcome everyone back today including new families who have joined us. I have enjoyed hearing about your Christmas holiday news and adventures! It's been a busy time away from school!

What a busy term it has been with centenary celebrations, Christmas concerts, parties and even a visit from a special man in red! We hope all our Milton families have a happy, healthy and peaceful time over Christmas and look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2025.
 


Enrolment - New Primary 1 Pupils August 2025 (added 13/12/24 by Mrs James)
If your child is due to start school in August 2025, you can enrol online from the South Lanarkshire website from 6/1/25. Information on placing requests and deferred entry can also be found here. I look forward to phoning families the week beginning 13/1/25  to discuss applications but please get in touch if you require any assistance or wish to discuss any aspect of the enrolment process before this - 01555 894282. We have a Primary 1 Intake website (see our Parent Area tab) which has lots of information for new Primary 1 pupils and a virtual tour of our school. If you know of any families starting at the school in August could I please ask you to share this with them. Thank you.
Parent Council Christmas Fayre Success (added 2/12/24 by Mrs James)
Thank you to all who were able to come along to the Christmas Fayre on Friday, it was a great afternoon and really helped spread the Christmas cheer! Super stalls and the classes also enjoyed sharing their craft.
 


Robin Hood Panto (added 2/12/24 by Mrs James)
We had a fabulous morning being entertained with our pantomime, Robin Hood. This was kindly paid for by our Parent Council and the classes thoroughly enjoyed this today.
 


Parent Council Tonight 7pm (added 18/11/24 by Mrs James)
A reminder that our Parent Council are meeting in our school cafe tonight at 7pm - all welcome.
 


Christmas Carol Concerts (added 18/11/24 by Mrs James)
Information about our Christmas Concerts and how to get tickets will be out via ParentsPortal next week. Our concert dates are;
Wednesday 11th December (1pm) and Thursday 12th December (9.30am)


House Captain/Vice Captain Legacy Plan - Cookie Friday Reminder (added 13/11/24 by Mrs James)
A reminder that our House and Vice Captains will have a regular cookie Friday stall for 50p. All monies raised will be used to top up playground toys. Edit 2/12/24- Thank you for supporting the House and Vice Captain stall, this will be closed now until February.

Paddy McGuinness - Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge Update (added 14/11/24 by Mrs James)
We've been tracking Paddy and had hoped he would be passing before 3pm so we could take the children out to cheer him on. It looks like he is going to be a little later than we originally thought (only fair he manages some lunch and a rest!!!). Paddy can be tracked using the tracker below if you are able to show your support and cheer him on as he passes through the village, please share your photos with our school office. Lesmahagow Highland Games - Princesses and Clansmen (added 24/10/24 by Mrs James)
We have application forms at our front office for the Lesmahagow Highland Games Court. If your child would like to enter, please complete the application and post this in the box provided. Closing date will be Tuesday 12th November and will be announced at our school assembly. Good luck!


Scottish Poppy Appeal (added 25/10/24 by Mrs James)
We will once again be supporting the Scottish Poppy Appeal and our House and Vice Captains will be selling paper poppies from next week with a recommended donation amount of 50p.
 


Paddy McGuinness - Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge (added 25/10/24 by Mrs James)
In November, Paddy McGuinness will take on the Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge cycling through three nations and eight counties.
He will start on Monday 11th November in Wrexham and cycle through Flintshire, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, Westmorland, Cumberland, Dumfriesshire and Lanarkshire. On the evening of Thursday 14th November, Paddy will be on Carlisle Road and can be tracked to see his location. Team Paddy will be collecting donations as he passes. He aims to finish the challenge on the morning of Friday 15 November in Glasgow.
 


Halloween Disco Reminder (added 22/10/24 by Mrs James)
A reminder that the Parent Council will once again be running the ever popular Halloween Disco on Thursday 24th October. Tickets can be bought at the door costing £3 and include a drink and snack. Timings for each disco are as follows;
6.30 – 7.30 (P1-3)
7.45-8.45 (P4-7)
Please remember all P1-3 children must be picked up by an adult at the end of the first disco and will not be able to leave without a parent/carer coming to collect them from our hall (side entrance). Please ensure that costumes are appropriate and not too scary or gory for our younger pupils (and staff!).
 


School Photographer Reminder (added 26/9/24 by Mrs James)
A reminder that our school photographer survey will close on Tuesday 1st October. At present, there are only 10 votes. This survey will determine which photographer is used for the session ahead. Please see the link below or the QR code on our X (Twitter) feed which will take you to the various packages and prices on offer from the six options.
Fun Weekend (added 26/9/24 by Mrs James)
Lesmahagow Development trust have an event happening this weekend at Kelso Avenue. There will be a Fun day with inflatables,  Dr Bike and a pump track with bikes to try out.

We are reviewing our school photographer this year and would like parents and carers to choose their preferred photographer. Please see the attached link to review packages and respond to preference by Tuesday 1st October - thank you.

Cashpot Total So Far (added 6/9/24 by Mrs James)
We already have a total of £62.20 from the Asda Cashpot. Remember when choosing Milton Primary, this will not change any amount in your own Cashpot. Thank you for supporting this and helping to raise valuable funds for our school.
 



Change of Calendar Dates - Parents Evening Date and Primary 2 Assembly (added 6/9/24 by Mrs James)
Please note as our parents' evening on 21st May clashes with Lesmahagow and we have moved ours to Wednesday 30th April to help with parking and multiple appointments. 

Our Primary 1 and 2 classes have been working on a joint topic and have decided to create a joint assembly. Please note both classes will perform their class assembly on Friday 30th May at 9.30 (doors open from 9.20). The website calendar has been updated with these new dates.




Cashpot for Schools - Asda (added 4/9/24 by Mrs James)
Cashpot for Schools (Asda) is live until 30th November. Please see the attachment on parentsportal sent 3/9/24 and our X (Twitter) page for simple instructions on how to help raise money for Milton. This will not affect your own cashpot and is a great opportunity to raise some extra funds for our school - thank you.

A reminder our Parent Council AGM will be held in our school cafe at 7pm tonight (2/9/24) - all welcome.
 



Homework 2024/25 (added 29/8/24 by Mrs James)
Based upon the uptake of Homework in 2023/24, our results below have shown that homework doesn't always fit in with the pressures of a busy family life outside of school. We have an online form to gather views on a proposed homework offering. This will be live until Monday 9th September. Please click on the link below. Thank you for your support.

Fire Drill - Personal Best! (added 20/8/24 by Mrs James)
We had our first fire drill of the session this morning and everyone was so quick and calm leaving the school. We had our quickest time ever today - well done, boys and girls!



What a Wonderful First Week! (added 16/8/24 by Mrs James)
Well done to all our boys and girls - you have been brilliant. It has been wonderful to have the working buzz around the school and to hear about your Summer adventures. A special well done to our new Primary 1 pupils who have settled well tot he school routine and to our Primary 7 pupils who have been a super support to their buddies.
 



Nearly Time! (added 13/8/24 by Mrs James)
We are excited to welcome everyone back tomorrow and look forward to our new Primary 1 pupils joining our Milton family. At 9am when the bell goes, all teachers will come out and take each class individually so don't worry if you have forgotten which House line you are in. For our Primary 1 pupils, Mrs Skalley will come out at 9.15 and welcome you into class. Adults are welcome to come in and take photos of your own child before returning at 2.30. Mrs Skalley will bring all the children to the front gate at 2.30. On Thursday Primary 1 pupils will be normal times of 9am start and 3pm finish, our fabulous Primary 7 buddies will be there to help too. Can't wait to see you all very soon!
