Welcome to Primary 3's class page!
Term 2

Primary 3 are looking forwards to an exciting Term 2 with lots of celebrations and festive activities in the weeks ahead. So far, we have enjoyed the school Halloween disco, a class trip to the Science Centre and our Centenary celebrations in school. Primary 3 would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to complete our questionnaire about being a pupil at Milton Primary over the years, the children loved hearing your answers.

We have lots still to look forward to this term including the Christmas Fayre, a Panto visit to school, Christmas Carol Concert and of course our class Christmas party.  Keep an eye on your child's diary for all the details over the next few weeks.

Literacy
During the month of November, we will be looking at reading for pleasure and look forward to the release of the Scottish Book Trust Book Bags and sharing our favourite stories with each other.
As always, we will continue to focus on learning new phonemes and using these to help us read and write, as well as working on learning to read and spell our common words. In writing we will finish looking at what makes a good information report before moving on to another type of text.

Numeracy
This term, we will look at addition and investigate different mental strategies which we can use add during our Number talks discussions as well as look at written methods. This term we will also investigate measure through practical activities.

Health & Wellbeing
This term we will be looking at Road Safety and looking at the red cog from the Emotion Works programme.

Term 1

Welcome to Primary 3’s class page!  We are settling back into the routines of school and are keen to go on some new learning adventures this term!

Numeracy

This term we are beginning by looking at the properties of various 2D shapes as well as revising our addition and subtraction skills from last year.  The groups will also be looking to further their mental addition skills through our Number talks sessions.

Literacy

As we start the new school year, we are going to be spending some time consolidating previously taught sounds and common words before moving onto new sounds.  Lots of active spelling activities will take place in class to help us revise these.  We will also continue to develop our reading skills with new reading books and a focus on comprehension to ensure we are understanding fully what we have read.   We will begin our writing block this year by using our PM description bubble to revise writing a description.

Health & Wellbeing

This year our P.E days will be on a Wednesday & Thursday. Please ensure pupils have suitable shoes, shorts (preferably black) and T-shirt (preferably white). Hair tied back and no earrings or jewellery please. (Earrings can be taped over if necessary).

We begin this term by looking at ways to keep ourselves safe and exploring different words to describe our emotions through the orange cog from the Emotion Works Programme.

Topic

This term Primary 3 are going to be learning about the history of our school as we work towards celebrating the school's centenary.  We will be working closely with Primary 1 & 2 and can't wait to learn more about our school, village and Scotland through a range of learning experiences.
